a starting point

In three weeks I will begin a figure painting class. Words really cannot express how excited I am to be able to take this class, and grateful. I am also extremely grateful for having the unique opportunity to straight from color theory to figure painting. All these new realizations about color relationships will be fresh in my mind as I forge ahead next quarter, and hopefully I will IMPROVE!!!!
So, a small head study of the only figure in my life right now that I can count on to hold still enough ... me.

  1. Very impressed! people are hard--can't wait to see what comes out of your class!

  2. Thank yo Kim! I was so hesitant to post this portrait, but I am glad I did. It helps me remember that good or bad, we all can improve in our endeavors.

  3. Wow, Julie! That's awesome! What exactly is figure painting? Sounds a lot like finger painting. Maybe it will be just as fun.

  4. Hey Christie!

My professor was once interviewed by the local paper and when he was asked what classed he was to be teaching in the spring, he said, "Color theory, landscape painting, and figure painting." When it was printed it said, "Color theory, landscape painting, and finger painting."

Figure painting sometimes includes a little finger painting but is mostly painting the the human body nude and/or clothed/costume.
