Putting aside the very sad news of a struggling sister late in the afternoon, I had just about one of the best days.

I had my first day volunteering up at a place called Covenant Farms.
I am going up there once a week to help out and learn more. This morning I got to help with the feeding of about 35 horses. Just being around them was invigorating to my soul. I got to feel the sunrise whilst trying not to step in poo, and scoop bucketfuls of alfalfa, and watch the farrier shoe and trim several hooves. I got to catch and lead, and ask lots and lots and lots of questions.
I was so happy and so busy that I did not take one single picture.

  1. I'm glad you are finding some time for yourself. Plus, I'm sure you're used to avoiding poo so it should be fun! :)

(Sorry about your sister. It's hard to see someone you love go through trials.)

  2. That sounds so refreshing!! (the horsey part, not the struggling sister part- I am sorry to hear she is having some hard trials. I know how hard it is to see your sibling struggling.)

Someday. . .someday I am going to get my little (not really all that little) hiney on a horse.

  3. I got to horse-sit for a friend several times in SC. I really miss those horses - it's just a soul-cleansing feeling to be around them and care for them. Even their poo.

  4. Once, when I was a kid, I fell off a horse and hit my head on a rock. Now you can say, "Oh, now I know why Marci..." ;)

  5. sounds fun...sooo, why are you doing this?
